Facebook’s acquisition of virtual reality firm Oculus VR stunned many gamers and companies last night, prompting a mass reaction online. Several developers have stepped forward to comment on the matter, including id Software founder John Carmack, who has confirmed he is still onboard with the firm.

You’ll find our full report on the Facebook Oculus deal through the link, and we’ve even penned an opinion blog on the matter here.

On Twitter, Carmack assured his follows that he was still with the company:

Meanwhile, EVE: Valkyrie developer CCP Games is continuing on with Oculus Rift development. Its space dogfighting sim was poised launch alongside the headset’s commercial release, and that still seems to be the case. Speaking with Engadget, chief marketing officer David Reid said of the deal, “We’re very excited for our friends and colleagues at Oculus. We share their vision about the future of VR and gaming and are looking forward to participating in the consumer launch of the Oculus Rift with EVE: Valkyrie.”

Last night we reported that Mojang founder Markus Persson has pulled plans to release an Oculus version of Minecraft, stating that “Facebook creeps me out.”

We’ll have more on the Facebook deal as it transpires.
